Honey Jar

Honey Jar, a Callisto 40, was built in England for `blue water' cruising. Designed by Bill Dixon, she is cutter rigged with a steel hull and protected pilot house.
Completed in 1993, John & Jane Gibb, her then owners, sailed to the Caribbean via Madeira and the Canaries, arriving in St Lucia in December 1993. The building of Honey Jar was the subject of three feature articles in Yachting World magazine in 1994. Honey Jar changed hands in 2002. She now sails under the US flag with the name 'Honey'.

The cruising of Honey Jar from 1993 to 2001 included the Eastern Caribbean, the Bahamas, Bermuda, much of the US east coast and Canadian Maritimes. Many of these travels were recorded in articles in Yachting World magazine. See Honey Jar Articles.

Jane, a freelance writer, illustrator and artist, had numerous articles published. Jane was the author of Reluctant Cook, a lighthearted sailing cookery book published by Adlard Coles in 1991 and re-issued in 2003.
Her second book, The RYA Book of Caribbean Cruising, was released in August, 2002. The US edition was released in September 2003 by Sheridan House. The Dutch edition was released in 2004. For more details see Jane's Home Page.

John, a photographer, produced the photographs illustrating the RYA Book of Caribbean Cruising and provided the photographs for many articles by Jane.
